Norm Gold Associates provides consulting that helps schools and school districts build institutional commitment and an increased capacity to serve English learners (ELs). Our focus is on the development and refinement of educational systems that will lead to significant long-term improvements in the quality and effectiveness of services for these students and others.

We believe that attention to three main elements will lead to school
success for English learners:

Both the student's home language and English must figure prominently in planning instruction. We must consider many factors beyond language as well.
Both mastery of English and academic competence must be the central goals of all EL programs.  Academic mastery of the home language is optimal where it can be provided.
Equity goes far beyond simple access to materials or to classrooms where grade-level content is taught.  Equity demands attention to optimizing results for each student.
